Kollock-Thoromon family papers, 1791-1904.

The Kollock-Thoromon family papers on microfilm is divided into five series: Letters, Diaries, Overseers' Records, Legal Papers of Kollock and Miller, and Miscellaneous. Susan Marion Kollock (III) originally arranged and described this collection in the 1930s. Additional descriptive work was done by Catharine Kollock Thoromon in the 1980s. Mrs. Thoromon did not permit all of the manuscript material to be microfilmed. Series 1: Letters, 1791-1906. ssb The bulk of these letters covers from 1820-1900. Series 2: Diaries, 1850-1894. Series 3: Overseer's Papers, 1830-1861. Series 4: Legal Records of Miller and Kollock, 1834-1841 [actual material dates from 1833-1843]. Series 5: Miscellaneous [1851-1876 and undated].

The Kollock-Thoromon family papers on microfilm are part of a privately held family collection. Catharine Kollock Thoromon inherited this collection from her aunts Susan Marion Kollock (III, also known as "Sister") and Louisa Bell Kollock Miner. Susan and Louisa discovered them in the family house, Woodlands (Clarkesville, GA) in the 1920s or 1930s. George Jones Kollock (1810-1894) was the son of Dr. Lemuel Kollock and Maria (Campbell) Kollock, daughter of Macartan Campbell. He practiced law in Savannah from 1832-1836, then moved to Woodlands near Clarkesville, in Habersham County, Georgia, keeping overseers on his plantations.
